Summer has come and gone, and fall is finally here; so create your own memento to remind you of the beautiful Hatteras Island through the winter months. Seashell picture frames can be an inexpensive gift or souvenir for a friend, or a gift for you! They are fun, and easy to make! I love seeing how each frame turns out completely different and unique from previous frames! Personally, I truly enjoy making shell frames. I find myself feeling as if I am bringing home a little piece of my vacation so I never really have to leave! It is an enjoyable pastime that can relax and relieve the stress of everyday life. I use my shell frames to display vacation photos around my room and house to remind me that summer is only around the corner!
I usually take a bucket out to the beach and collect shells for my frame. (I could stay on the beach looking for seashells for hours!) Once I have found the shells I want to use, I buy a plain
frame. Be sure to buy a frame with flat surfaces (very important), this makes it much easier to glue down the seashells! Drug stores or Dollar Stores are a great place to find plain frames with flat surfaces. The only other item you need is durable, hefty glue. Once you have all the items you need you can begin arranging the shells on the frame how ever fits your fancy;). I like to add beads and other small details to each frame to make each one unique, and different from the previous frame! Let your creative side show and decorate your frames with anything that reminds you of Hatteras Island! Once arranged you can begin gluing down the shells, let the frame dry for a few hours and then you ready for your vacation pictures!
